Description: Like all of Fenders student line, the Music Master was discontinued in 1981 with the introduction of the Squire line. These short scale basses, the little brother to the Mustang Bass, were introduced in 1971 well after Fender’s purchase by CBS, but unlike most of the Fender line the Basses tended to retain the preferred four-bolt neck joint design. This example has been through many changes. The neck, tuners, string guide, nut and neck plate are original, the frets are not. The body is original although it has been routed for an active pick-up battery and subsequently re-filled and refinished in black (a color they were originally available in). The pick-guard, thumb rest and knobs are correct but not original, the bridge is a four saddle reproduction and the pick-up is a Seymour Duncan four-pole ‘Quarter Pounder’ Bass pick-up. We have the original bridge and will include it in the sale. She is a light weight easy-on-the-hands player whose sound was certainly improved by that Duncan. She will ship in a gig bag.
